Preparation in Sykes criminal case continues

On Friday, April 29, 2022, the case against Mayor Rich Sykes for criminal misdemeanor “Bribery - Using public position for personal gain” for charges occurring on or about April 14, 2021 continued with another pre-trial conference preceded over by Judge Adam Kimball via Zoom. In attendance along with Judge Kimball were the defendant, Rich Sykes and his attorney Michael Bartlett and State Prosecutor Haylee Mills.

Defense Attorney Bartlett reported that his status still remained with a trial trajectory. His investigator was estimating a 1 week completion, but that would be subject to any additional discover in the case by the state, who had just submitted two pieces of discover in the last two days. He also stated that did not mean he was not open to a settlement.
