Mountain Home School District holds Bond Open House - April 13

James Gilbert, Superintendent of Mountain Home School District spoke to a near full gymnasium of parents and voters on April 13th at the Mountain Home High School Bond Open House.
This was the first of two Open House meetings to talk about the $79 million bond measure that will be on the ballot on the May 17th election. His main concern was the ability to accommodate the expected population growth over the next 4-5 years and provide a benefit to the community. The Board of Directors have been weighing the options between expanding and renovating the existing facilities at the High School (Pods/additional wings-build as they grow) or build a new high school. Gilbert stated that the growth rate expectation for Mountain Home could be 7% and according to the US Department Of Labor the State of Idaho is expected to grow by 15%. The new proposed high school, if approved it will be able to handle 1000-1,500 students, where the current high school cannot at this time. Bennett will remain an alternative high school and will sustain their 150 students, their upgrades will be more maintenance types of renovations.
