Summer 2022, Another Drought Year for Elmore County?

Water, Water and yes water! It is a hot topic in our community and something to be closely watched into the future by community leaders. Water is used for a variety of needs in our society, from large scale agricultural and ranching operations to small farms and backyard gardens of the average homeowner. Water is an integral component of our community and is needed for basic human life, food production and needs. We use water every single day in some capacity, the United States Geological Society (USGS) estimates that every person uses roughly 80 gallons per day while the average family across the U.S. uses a little over 300 gallons per day for basic human needs according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
