CITY OF MOUNTAIN HOME REEVALUATES IMPACT FEES FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION

Monday, March 7, 2022

The City of Mountain Home has been reevaluating the new development impact fees. Impact fees are a one-time fee established to assist with capital improvements required by new growth and development. Impact fees help ensure that “growth pays for growth.” These fees do not affect any current homes or businesses.

Galena Consulting has reviewed the city’s current impact fees and calculated proposed impact fees based upon the city’s capital needs. The impact fee study conducted by Galena Consulting is available on the City of Mountain Home website.

The impact fee study provided by Galena Consulting illustrates that a substantial raise in impact fees is needed to meet the city’s capital improvement obligations, and the proposed impact fees will still be competitive with surrounding communities (see page 30, Impact Fee Comparisons).

The city will initiate the required hearing processes to begin the adoption of the proposed impact fees. It is anticipated the Planning & Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing for Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Title Amendments to adopt the impact fees on April 4th, 2022. City Council will be forwarded the Planning & Zoning Commission’s recommendation and potentially decide on the proposed impact fees on April 25th, 2022.

If you have any questions regarding the proposed impact fees or the impact fee hearing/adoption process, please contact Community Development Director Brock Cherry at 208-587-2173 or bcherry@mountain-home.us.
