Meet the Elmore County P& Z Director

Mitra Mehta-Cooper is the Director of the Elmore County Planning and Zoning Commission for almost two years now.

What the Planning and Zoning Commission does is issues permits for new developments in both commercial and residential structures and community planning.

She got her start in Southern California where she achieved her degree in Architecture and advanced studies at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona for Urban and Regional planning.

We discussed her experience in Riverside County which has been in a severe drought for many years. She was instrumental in planning the Community of Temecula California’s wine region which is called the Inland Empire and also in a very drought-laden part of Southern California. Before the growing wine region, Temecula was known for horse ranches mainly.
