On Wednesday of last week, the Franz Family Bakery, Boise Sales Manager Marco Uribe surprised a Mountain Home family, Cassandra Hollenbeck along with her husband Dennis, with the generous gift of a $500 check from the Franz family in their “Spirit of Giving” annual holiday program.

Franz Bakery is just that, a family operation here in the NW. It was started when Engelbert Franz, at the age of 15, immigrated to the United States to work in his uncle’s bakery in Portland Oregon; United States Bakery in 1896. His brother, Joseph Franz, immigrated to work alongside his brother in 1898, with their brother Ignaz immigrating one year later to work alongside them. The rest is history and quite an interesting one. Franz even celebrated its 100th birthday by producing a Guinness World Record-breaking Hot Dog Bun of 104 feet in 2006!
