Yvonne Ruth Bowen, 84, of Mountain Home, ID, entered eternal peace and rest in the presence of her Savior on August 8, 2021. She passed peacefully at home with her husband and daughter by her side after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born March 30, 1937, in a church basement in Sturgis, SD, to Rev. & Mrs. F.E. VanDeventer, the fifth of six children. She met and married her lifelong spouse Donald D. Bowen in 1956. Together they raised three children and pastored churches in several locations in California and Idaho. Together, they worked many years for the gospel of Jesus Christ preaching, pastoring, volunteering at senior centers, singing and playing the piano. Her passion and love for family was exceeded only by her passion and love for serving Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lt. Colonel E.E. VanDeventer and Eugene VanDeventer, sister Estelle Wessel and husband Alvin Wessel, and her oldest beloved son Lynn Darnell Bowen (16).

She is survived by her adoring husband of 65 years, brothers Virgil and Vernon VanDeventer, sisters-in-law Joyce, Lorraine, and Jane VanDeventer, daughter Tamme Bowen, son Bradley Bowen and wife Tiffany, grandchildren Stephanie Bowen, Blake Bowen and wife Sydney, great grand children Olyvia and Victoria Bowen, step great grandchildren Amari and Aubri Niko and Jackson Lester and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to personally thank Savanna, Tricia, Jan, Sandra, Dorinda, Beth, Tammye, Denise, Darcy and the entire Horizon Hospice team that helped us care for her at home as she wished.

Viewing will be Sept. 8 from 7-9 PM at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise, ID. Graveside service at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise, ID, Sept. 9 at 11 AM sharp. Celebration of Life to be held at 1 PM at the Northview Bible Church of God of Prophecy, 8366 W. Northview St., Boise, ID.
