James Paul Loewen, age 88, of Mountain Home, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 27, 2021 at The Christian & Baptist Church and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Jim was born October 5, 1932, in Caldwell, Idaho, the son of Frank P. Loewen and Viola I. (née Allen) Loewen. He went to elementary school in Sterling, Colorado, junior/senior high school in Parsons, Kansas, and graduated in 1950. He attended Kansas University but transferred to Baker University, earning a bachelor’s degree in science. He then went to L.I.F.E. Bible College in 1954, where he met his future wife, Doris. They both graduated in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in ministry. He also earned a Master’s degree in counseling. They were married that same year & began their ministry together. He served at the following churches over the years; Ouray, Colorado, Emporia, Kansas; they had 3 children while living in Kansas. He then served in the Leon/Corydon, Iowa area; Quincy, Illinois, Marissa, Illinois and Mountain Home. He was a full-time teacher along with being a minister for many years. Jim retired from full time ministry in 2000. He and his wife served as interim pastors at 13 churches. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf and going for walks. He liked playing card and board games. He was loved by so many, touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by Jeff and Debbi Loewen (son); Charlie and Brenda Loewen (son); Stephanie Loewen (daughter); 6 grandchildren-Michael & Maddi (Loewen) Dorry, Seth and Grace (Loewen) Williams, Olivia Loewen, Audrey Loewen, Cameron Loewen, Faith Loewen; 1 great-granddaughter Alora Grace Williams. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris (Hammond) Loewen; brother John Loewen; parents Frank and Viola Loewen; extended family relatives.
