She attended school in Mountain Home and graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1962. She married James Haydon on July 27, 1962. Three years later she welcomed her first daughter, Shawna and two years after that, Shannon was born.

Teresa’s first job was as a carhop at A&W/Hunger Hut, followed by a short employment in the treasurer’s office at the Elmore County Courthouse. She was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom while she raised her two daughters. Later, she began working at the House of Flowers where she stayed for seven years before leaving to go to work at Jack & Jill Daycare. After five years there, she and her daughter, Shannon opened their own daycare, It’s A Child's World. She stayed there until her retirement in 2009 after 16 years caring for children.

Teresa impacted the lives of many children and young adults through her participation with her daughters’ homecoming festivities, school events and caring for children at her daycare. She loved spending time with her family and always made time for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Teresa loved her home that her and James built together as well as her yard and garden. She leaves behind her daughters Shawna Draper (Mark) and Shannon Reed (Brian), grandkids Brei Riley (Scott), Allie Bundy (Nathan), Danielle Russell (Steven), Taylor Downs (Dustin), Haydon Draper (Audrey), Shayla Campbell (Michael), great-grandkids Tripp and Krue Riley, Ivy and Ella Bundy, Ridge Russell, Opie-Jo Downs, and Paxton Campbell, her sister Sherin Olson, Frank Black (Jo), Janis Wells, and Betty Grubb (Sidney), sister in law Kay Black.
