MHHS Tennis Squad

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

The Mountain Home tennis squad competed in the district tournament over the course of 2 days, May 11th and the 12th. A total of five Mountain Home tigers advanced to the second day of competition: singles player Gareth Brantley, girls doubles team Grace Reaume and Stephanie Schwitters, as well as boys doubles team Darius Brantley and Aiden Shepherd. Although they did not make it to the second day of competition, the mixed doubles team of Leon Fishback and Korra Simler-Archuleta also achieved one victory before being eliminated from the tournament.

On the second day of competition, with their sights set on going to state, the Mountain Home tennis squad played extremely well and fought very hard. Garreth lost a very close match 5-7, 3-6, but should be very proud of his valiant effort and has three more years to try and advance to the next level, we know that he will get there.

On the second day of action for the doubles side, both the boys and girls doubles team won their first match of the day by extending their matches to three sets and going the distance. However, in their final match of the day, which was the semifinals of the consolation round, Grace and Stephanie and Darius and Aiden fell just short and lost to their opponents from Twin Falls and Wood River. Both the boys and girls doubles teams were one victory away from advancing to state, and should be very proud of their efforts and everything they accomplished this year.

Coaches Chad Wallace and Tim Austin are both very proud of the entire Mountain Home high School tennis squad for their exemplary behavior on and off the court this season, as well as the successes that they earned by persevering and giving it their all. All of the tennis team's student athletes have very Bright futures both on and off the court.

Though this ends their seasons the players and their coaches should be congratulated on the tremendous amount of hard work and effort they put into their season. They have posted many individual team members wins this year and are looking to add to that in the years to come. We are proud of you and are looking forward to seeing you in action next season.
