Primary Health Loans St. Luke's 1,400 Moderna Vaccines

Friday, February 19, 2021

Since the first case of COVID-19 in Idaho almost one year ago, local health care providers have united against a common enemy to share information and resources to take care of people in our communities. These vaccines (photos) from Primary Health Medical Group are one more example of that coordination and collaboration.

St. Luke’s found out today that our COVID-19 vaccine shipment would not arrive in time for a large volume of appointments scheduled for this weekend. Weather in other parts of the country is causing shipping delays.

At risk were appointments for 1,400 people planning to get their booster doses. Rather than postpone appointments, St. Luke’s pharmacy leaders reached out to their network to try and get vaccines, even making arrangements to fly across the country, if necessary, to personally pick up the doses and bring them back.

In the end, Primary Health offered to lend St. Luke’s 1,400 Moderna vaccines to cover this weekend’s appointments. St. Luke’s picked up those doses today and will return the same amount once the weather improves and our shipment arrives.

St. Luke’s appreciate Primary Health’s willingness to share this precious resource and to lend a helping hand. Primary Health has been a great partner through this pandemic and their actions today demonstrate again, how valuable it is to have all health care organizations working together for the greater good.
