Marie Mae Adkins (Love) passed away

on Friday, August 28, 2020, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, on Friday, September 11, 2020, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Marie was born December 3, 1935, in Mountain Home, to William and Edith Love. Marie married Robert “Dean” Shook in December 1951, which began a whirlwind adventure traveling around the world. After divorcing Dean in 1970, she came back to Mountain Home where she became a waitress at the Desert Inn, working there off and on until her retirement. She married Matt Adkins and divorced him in 1976.

Marie thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always helping with her grandkids and running errands for her children. She loved to be needed and loved to help everyone. Very seldom did she ever miss an event or a gathering where she could socialize with those she loved.

The Mountain Home Senior Center became her second home and the members became her second family. She tried to have lunch at the Senior Center three times a week so that she could visit and play cards (she always claimed to be on the winning team). Crocheting and reading were her favorite pastimes. If you ever needed a book, all you had to do was call and she could accommodate.

Almost everyone in town had something that Mom made. It may have been an afghan, potholders, hats, mittens or something to hold your cards while playing.

She always loved to share her craft. Marie is survived by her sister Pearl (Melvin) Spence of Mountain Home, brother Roy (Lenda) Love of Bellevue, her three sons: Glen Shook of Mountain Home, Robert (Debby) Shook of Meridian, Donnie Shook of Nampa, and one daughter (her favorite) Judy (Terry) Lehto of Mountain Home: 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her ex-husband Dean, one granddaughter, one grandson, and two great-grandsons.
