Train sparks fire near underpass

Tuesday, August 18, 2020

A fire near the railroad tracks in the upper vicinity of the underpass was first reported by a off duty fireman who was driving by and saw the smoke as well as other witnesses in the area.

Fire Department protocol is to speak to all individuals in the area as witnesses to what they observed. A couple walking their dog in the area had seen the fire as it first started and relayed that it started just after a train had pass through. Evidence of the area and witness statements indicate that it was caused by a possible spark from the train. We encourage all to be aware of their environment and practice fire safety diligently in all situations but especially in these heightened summer condition.
