Mayor Rich Sykes issues statement about recall effort

Mountain Home Mayor Rich Sykes is currently facing a recall effort to remove him from office.

In the previous few weeks a petition was turned into City Hall by a group of people opposing the mayor, asking for him to face a recall election this fall. That petition and the signatures on it were verified and the group now has until Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. to collect at least 1255 signatures by registered voters in the City of Mountain Home. As promised in a previous article on the subject we reached out to Mayor Sykes for comment on the situation. The following is the mayors written statement that he provided us regarding the allegations made in the recall petition:

I’m writing today to address some of the falsehoods contained in the recent recall petition filed at City Hall June 16, 2020.
