Air Force Appreciation Day Changes

Thursday, May 28, 2020

***Press Release***

With much consideration, The Air Force Appreciation Day Committee has decided to cancel the traditional festivities that coincide with Mountain Home’s Annual Air Force Appreciation Day (AFAD) Celebration, including the parade and vendors in the park events.

AFAD attracts approximately 9,000 attendees, annually, to celebrate and honor our men and women who serve in the military. After consulting with State and local officials, Mountain Home Air Force Base personnel, and the Central District Health Department regarding Covid-19, the committee has determined public health and safety is the most important factor. The restrictions and recommendations are too uncertain to continue the planning process of the traditional event.

The committee will coordinate a celebration with new activities that will fit within the “social distancing” guidelines.

The event and activities will take place the week after Labor Day. Details of the celebration will be released to the public as soon as they are available.

The community has celebrated Air Force Appreciation Day for over 59 years. The committee strives to bring the community and airbase together as one unit, while thanking the airmen that fight to protect our nation – This year will be no different.
