Doris Elaine Felton, 84, of Mountain Home passed away on May 24, 2020 at an assisted living facility in Boise. A private family service will be held at a later date when the family can all get together to celebrate Doris’s life. Cremation was under the care of Rost funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

Doris was born in Nampa on September 26, 1935 to Amil and Libbie Janoushek. She joined two brothers, Leonard and LaVerne. Eugene and Sharon would be born into the family later.

The family moved to Boulder Creek, California where the children ran the mountains. Doris always told her grandchildren that she ran and jumped fences like a deer. She saw herself as a California girl and was upset when the family left California. Eventually they moved back to Nampa and then to Mountain Home where Doris graduated from high school in 1953.

Claire Wetherell introduced Doris to Airman Ken Felton at the local USO. They were married on August 22, 1953. Their first son, Gary Dean, was born in 1955, second son Dennis Michael in 1956 and daughter Kerry Lynn was born in 1958.

During Ken’s Air Force career, the family lived in Mountain Home, Montana and Panama where they made many lifelong friends and had many adventures.

Doris was an avid sportswoman and played basketball, volleyball and ran track. She played women’s softball well into her forties and greatly enjoyed the women that she played ball with, especially her very good friend Nancy Freeman. Those were special years to Doris. She avidly followed her children’s and grandchildren’s athletic endeavors and rarely missed a game.

In 1982, Doris and Ken purchased a small cabin in Featherville, Idaho where the entire family and many friends greatly enjoyed the campfires, volleyball games, fishing, rafting, boating and just being together. In 1997 they sold the small cabin and had it moved from the lot to make way to build their dream cabin. It was her happy place and will not be the same without her.

Doris is preceded in death by both her parents, her son Dennis Michael, brothers Leonard, LaVerne and Eugene and in-laws Maurice and Zena Felton.

Doris is survived by her husband Ken, son Gary (Winkie) Felton, daughter Kerry (Mike) Mauk, sister Sharon (Gary) Fletcher, grandchildren Amber Ryska,Kenneth Cameron, Gary Dennis Felton, Randy Larrea, great grandchildren Parker Felton, Trent Cameron and Sophie and Dylan Ryska and special nieces Janna Fikes and Jami Salyers.
