Bennett Mountain creates graduation ceremony plan

Wednesday, May 6, 2020

Bennett Mountain has been fortunate to create a plan and procedure to distribute diplomas in way that will be unique and memorable for our graduates. Graduates will have the opportunity to walk across a stage wearing their caps and gowns to accept their diplomas. With everyone’s cooperation, we can do this in an efficient and respectful manner while working within CDC guidelines. This plan and its procedures have been approved with the expectation that our graduates and their family members adhere to the procedures listed below. This will ensure that everyone is following proper social distancing and avoiding gatherings on school property. Once again, we are very fortunate to be pulling this off and the staff have spent a lot of time and effort to deliver something special for our graduates. Do not let selfish actions ruin this event for the other graduates and their families. This is intended to be a once-in-a-lifetime event and we want to ensure that everyone does their part in making sure it will always be remembered as a positive affair. Respect The Bear! Diploma Distribution Procedure: - Bennett will distribute diplomas on May 22nd from 4:00pm-8:00pm - Each graduate will be scheduled into a five-minute time slot. DO NOT BE LATE! - Graduate/family is limited to ONE vehicle. No spectators or other vehicles will be permitted. - Graduate/family vehicle will follow these steps to reach the staging area: 1. Vehicles will enter the Bennett/Hacker parking area from Jackson Street and proceed around Bennett. 2. A staff member will be located near the exit of the parking lot to check in graduates and ensure correct line-up. 3. Vehicles will then stage in parking spaces on Jackson Street and wait their turn to accept diplomas. Visuals of route to staging area (see photos) - A small stage will be setup outside on the yard between the office doors and the sidewalk. - The graduate who is scheduled to accept their diploma will park in the first parking spot in front of the stage. - Graduate who is accepting the diploma and their family will be notified when they can get out of the vehicle and stand in the designated family area. (Refer to the picture below) - Once the graduate’s name has been read, the Bennett Mountain staff member who reads the name will place the diploma on a stand on the stage and walk off the stage. The graduate will then walk on the stage to pick up their diploma, pose for pictures if desired, and walk off the stage. The graduate and family members will then return and leave in their vehicle to make room for the next graduate. - Loitering and or gathering among graduates and families is prohibited.
