Student trying to stay positive receives “worst news possible”

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

Dear Editor,

My name is Jaden Bennett and I am a senior at MHHS. This morning, the news came out about graduation being a head shot on Google classroom. This is some of the worst news I’ve received since school was cancelled. I’ve been trying to stay positive and motivated to do my schoolwork with hopes that it will somehow be able to end with me walking across the stage. Over the past few weeks, parents have been trying to come up with ideas for an alternative graduation. After reading the email, I felt that the school district didn’t have a care in the world for what happened with graduation. They pushed all the ideas aside and it resulted in the worst solution they could’ve come up with. It broke my heart to hear that after how hard I have worked for the past 12 years, I get to be honored like this. A Google classroom graduation is the bare minimum of what they can do and disregarded our feelings and wishes for our graduation.

Sincerely,

A heartbroken 2020 senior
