Tuesday, April 14, 2020

The Mountain Home News has been actively tracking and updating if possible daily on our CoronaVirus Crisis link on the front of the home page, the numbers reflected from the Idaho Division of Public Health Covid -19 in Idaho website. We began tracking numbers on March 15th, and started posting the daily updates after 5 p.m. when they become available on April 5th, as a way to keep our community informed of numbers that affect us a whole within the state. Information related to Covid19 issues are on our website, that are specific to our community and state and are available to all to access.

In the beginning of our efforts on March 15th there 0 cases reported, however as of April 12th, the numbers reflected a total of 1426 confirmed cases within the state, 27 reported deaths, 132 hospitalized and of those 38 requiring ICU medical treatment, 14,881 reportedly tested and specifically for Elmore County, 16 confirmed cases with no deaths reported.

The double digit numbers of confirmed cases were reached on March 23rd, reporting 32 confirmed cases and continued to slowly increase until March 30th, reporting 105 confirmed. The trend continued and appeared to have peaked to date with 222 new cases on April 2nd. Since that time we have continued to have ebbs of more and again less until the 9th when there was another 121 new cases. These numbers have continued to increase daily since our tracking began with highs and lows of new confirmed cases. These numbers have shown that efforts that have been mandated upon by our state have continued to have an positive effect on not only our community but our state. Social distancing has been reported and argued here locally since the onset of the directions.

We continue to wait for the Governor to address us as a state on Wednesdays April 15th at 11 a.m, as to the new orders that would update those that are scheduled to expire at midnight April 15 when the first "Stay-At-Home" order of 3 weeks was released along with the essential workers allowances released on March 25th. We will continue to report on any new orders being released up until press time on Tuesday, April 14. Once new orders are either decreased, continued or increased by the state, we will post any releases on our website for the Mountain Home News on our COVID19 link available to all to have access .
