Particpants line up for the start of the HOSA lunchtime Fun Run during HOSA Week

The Health Occupations Students of America celebrated HOSA week, Feb 24th -28th at Mountain Home High School. Each day different displays were set up during lunch and HOSA members talked to students and faculty about different health related topics. The week included handwashing, vaping, CPR, “How much sugar is in your drink”, and a one mile Fun Run for “Be The Match”: The National Bone Marrow Donor Program. Be The Match, has been the MHHS HOSA Community Awareness Program for this year. It was started by Chloe Smith along with Kiara Rockins, Emily Schneider, Ashton Bennett and Hailie Goldthorpe. They have all been trained on how to properly process donor swabs and have been raising awareness since the MHHS Homecoming parade and football game in October 2019. They have raised a total $834 to date, thanks to “Soap of Hope” by SUGS Soap Company, The Gettin Place, and donations from the sale of Fun Run shirts with #bethematch across the front.

It was a successful week for HOSA with over 100 students visiting the lunch displays and 45 people running or walking in the Fun Run.
