The year that was...2019

Wednesday, January 15, 2020
Over 90 volunteers and community organizations showed up to help build Hacker Middle School’s first ever playground in July.

This week we wrap up our yearly “Year in Review” with July through December.

The community had plenty to celebrate with the building of Hacker Middle School’s first playground, the ground breaking for the Downtown Revitalization Project and the opening of Elmore County’s first safehouse to house victims of domestic violence.

We said goodbye to long serving members of the community as people such as Billy Richey retired from public service and learned that two classmates from MHHS had been reunited when they took command of the local Idaho Army National Guard Station

July 3 - 14th Annual Daniel Dopps Memorial Rodeo took place over the weekend of June. Mountain Home has been home to this Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo during the fourth weekend in June since rodeo professional Daniel Dopp's accidental death in the bull-riding event years ago.

In addition to providing money to youth organizations and scholarships, many of the booths on the rodeo grounds during "Dopps" weekend are run by local programs to help fund their groups, such as, UI Extension 4-H Youth Development, the National FFA Organization, and The American Legion.

July 10 - The 2019 Chrono Kristin Armstrong 17 mile race took place in Glenns Ferry, Idaho on July 12, 2019.For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.
