Friday, December 13, 2019

The city of Mountain Home hosted an open house Wednesday, December 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed Mountain Home Rail Industrial Park. The City Economic Development Director, Courtney Lewis, was on hand to explain details, along with Economic Specialist, Taylor Hurley and Superintendent of Public Works, Richard Urquidi.

The proposal is a result of the strong relationship the city has developed with Union Pacific (UP) in an effort to increase development of the manufacturing sector and diversifying the economy. UP has a team of regional experts that provide guidance and rail project management which will assist the City of Mountain Home to become a Focus Site as a part of the UP Rail Within Reach initiative. Focus Sites are premier large-scale development areas, complete with rail designs, which, increase industrial business’ certainty to connecting to rail and increases speed to market. The proposed Mountain Home Rail Industrial Park is expected to be added to the UP Focus Site web page sometime in early 2020.

There will be another open house on Dec. 17 in City Council Chambers from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
