Nearly four months in and the 7/11 Club is going strong

Friday, December 6, 2019

Elmore County's first sober club, The 7/11 Recovery Club, opened on Aug. 10, 2019 and in the months since it has seen tremendous growth.

The club was started with the vision of being a gathering place for people recovering from addictions to hang out with like-minded people in a clean environment. The club currently has all of the activities you would find in a bar atmosphere (pool, darts, televisions for sports games and lively conversation) without the alcohol.

The club can host just about any type of event including birthday parties, sports game watch parties and even hosted a drug court members community service project back in September. That event in particular gave the probation officers, judge and counselors of the program a chance to see what the group is all about and they have been very supportive.

The club also serves as a gathering place for recovery meetings, it now hosts 13 meetings a week with over 300 people a month showing up (on average) and it is continuing to grow, with 365 people attending in the month of November alone, and five to six new people showing up for each meeting. Word of mouth is helping to spread the news of the club with people from Glenns Ferry, Grand View and even Boise beginning to show up and become members.
