Carmelita Love

Carmelita Love, age 85 of Omaha, NE, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, NE. Carmelita Uy was born on June 8, 1934, in Jolo Sulu, Philippines to parents Hee Ong and Patla (Salapudin) Uy. She was baptized on June 8, 1935, and confirmed in June of 1945 at St. Maria Catholic Church. Carmelita grew up in Zamboanga, Philippines where she attended grade school and high school at Zamboanga City.

On August 5, 1961, Carmelita was united in marriage to Russell H. Love in Quezon City, Philippines. This union was blessed with five children: Elena, Christine, Russell, Marilyn and Teri Ann. Carmelita enjoyed being a housewife and taking care of her family. In her free time, she liked to play bingo, color, and spend time with family and friends. Carmelita also liked to travel and loved shopping for jewelry. She never passed up an opportunity to go out to eat and will always be remembered for never wanting to pick the restaurant. Carmelita was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Elena (Eduardo) Tamez, Christine Irene Love, Marilyn (James) Goetz, Teri Ann (Robert) Cook, and Russell Lloyd (Shailagh) Love; grandchildren: Erik, Eileen, Jacob, Marissa, Jessica, Russell, Amanda, Elizabeth, Brianna, Kyle, Michael (Kelsey), Danielle, MacKenzy, Tristan, Russell Henry, Jaclynn (Jesse), and Jason (Catrina); great-grandchildren: Hailey, Dean, Christy, Ariana, Thomas, Trinity, Elijah, Gabriel, Damian, Caden, Alanna, Azalea, Hunter, Abram and Madison; brothers: Ben Uy, Eduardo Uy, and Joselito Uy; sisters: Linda Midel and Adela Chiong; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Carmelita was preceded in death by her husband Russell Love; parents Hee Ong and Patla (Salapudin) Uy; grandson Elvin Tamez; siblings: Veronica Uy, Rodrigo Uy, Rosalio Uy, and Ernesto Uy; Uncle Federico Cornelio; and Aunt Ana Cornelio.

Mass of the Christian Burial be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Sac City, IA, with Father Joe Dillinger officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar Cemetery in Lytton, IA, under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Sac City. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 -8:00 p.m., at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
