Political Questionnaires

Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Editor’s Note: At the beginning of October I sent out questionnaires to all of the contested races for the City of Mountain Home, which included candidates for mayor and for the City Council. Included in these questionnaires were five questions from me and additional questions that were submitted by our readers. The following are their answers to these questions and a brief biography for each candidate. Due to space limitations each set of questions will only be run once. I apologize if this causes any confusion.

Mayoral

Questionnaires:

1) During the first political forum we heard it said multiple times that everyone is vested in making young adults want to return to the community after graduating from college or trade schools. Everyone pointed to the need of affordable housing, well paying jobs and businesses/activities that the younger generation wants as important factors in making this happen. If you are elected as mayor, what is your actual plan to make these items a reality?

2) Each of you have successful careers outside of that of a politician; Mayor of the City of Mountain Home is considered a full-time position and some might even say it is a 24/7 job. How do you plan to balance those two workloads if elected as mayor? Do you feel it is important to keep a clear distinction between those two pieces of your life or should the two of them go hand-in-hand?
