Bruce Floyd Ashley

Bruce was born on June 20, 1939 and passed away on August 29, 2019 at 80 years of age. His parents were Ray and Flora (Lee) Ashley. He was raised and educated in Emmett graduating from Emmett High in 1957 as an outstanding athlete.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. SPROSTON DD-577, a naval destroyer based at Pearl Harbor Hawaii.

Following his service he settled in Mountain Home where he met and married Phyllis Jenkins in 1966. Bruce loved Idaho and being outdoors to hunt, fish and camp, some of his fondest memories are of the times he spent on Bennett Mountain.

The past few years of his life Bruce worked proudly and diligently to help locate the remains of his Uncle PVT Fred W Ashley, KIA during World War II. Fred was MIA for 73 years, his remains were identified and returned home to Emmett ID for family burial in 2018.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, his brothers Jack, Keith, Donald and Dennis Ashley, daughter Jill McDowell and 4 nephews.

He is lovingly survived by his sister Doris (Monte) Fry, sons Jack and Jerry Jenkins, daughter Jamie Killeen, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held October 3, 2019, 11:00a-1:00p at The American Legion-515 E 2nd So-Mountain Home ID. The family suggest donations to The American Legion.
