In the multi-count case of Donald Schultz, the preliminary hearings resumed in the State of Idaho vs. the accused with Judge David Epis presiding. This was the result of several months of investigation in the missing person’s case of John Michael “Mike” Looney.

The Elmore County Sheriff’s Office began their investigation after being alerted to the fact that Looney had not been seen in several months. During this investigation Schultz was identified as a possible suspect and asked to come in for questioning. After being questioned Schultz was arrested in July on seven felony counts to include: Murder II, Failure to Report a Death, four counts of Vehicle Title Alter or Forge and Racketeering. At the initial preliminary hearing on July 24, a continuance was required as the state indicted they were amending their case by filing five additional charges of Grand Theft which involved the disposition of firearms, at which time, last week’s Aug. 13 and Aug. 16 preliminaries were scheduled. The defendant is now facing 12 felony charges.
