AFAD Grand Marshal chosen

Friday, August 23, 2019
Dan Collins was surprised with being named the 2019 AFAD Grand Marshal during what he thought was a meeting about moving the judging platform on Friday, Aug. 16. He is pictured here showing off his plaque along with other former grand marshal, fellow parade judges and his wife Judy.

Dan Collins has been chosen as the 2019 Air Force Appreciation Day Grand Marshal. Collins moved to Mountain Home in 1977 and immediately became an integral part of the community. First by working with local youth and helping them develop and grow into healthy adults. He then moved onto working with the county and local business entities.

Throughout it all he has always been an active volunteer helping to make our town and community a better place for all.

Collins has been the “backbone’ behind coordinating and organizing the parade judging which is a challenging task. Lining up the judging panel each year by asking past judges to return, filling vacant spots in the panel, handing out, gathering and tallying the ballots are just a few of the tasks associated with the position. He has been dedicated to the task for over 20 years and has helped make the parade one of the largest, and best, in Idaho.
