On July 12, over 48 cyclists from the USA and five foreign countries competed in the Chrono Kristin Armstrong time trial held in Glenns Ferry. The Chrono Kristin Armstrong is sanctioned by USA Cycling and UCI. The race took place on Old Oregon Trail and Bennett Mountain Road. Cyclists had to conquer the grueling slope of Slaughterhouse Hill and head up the road for approximately 8 miles before turning around and heading back to the starting point. Some cyclists were clocked at 50 mph along the route. At the beginning of the trial, which began at approximately 8:00 am the temperature ranged about 80 degrees, but toward the end of the event the thermometer had reached almost 100 degrees, which added to the challenge of the course. Also competing in the Chrono Kristin Armstrong event was a group of paracyclists from the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
