Public Hearing held on future of Kmart Subdivision

Thursday, February 14, 2019

On Feb. 4th the City Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing to discuss the future of the Kmart Subdivision.

James Prather was at the meeting representing the owner of the property, Todd Mccurry. Engineers for the project were in attendance as well. The property is part of the original Kmart development. The property is off of American Legion Blvd near the Auto Ranch dealership. They’re hopeful to bring food and dining onto the property. They were requesting approval for the plat to get the property ready for occupancy which would include an entrance from American Legion Blvd. There is already a portion of the property in escrow that is a food tenant, but they were not allowed to mention the name. They are currently in negotiation for the other lots on the property with other prospective food tenants.

A traffic impact study was done to see how this project would affect drivers on American Legion Blvd.
