Community service project turns into year long awareness campaign

What started as two MHHS HOSA students’ Community Service Project, has turned into a yearlong awareness program on suicide and more importantly what we can do to help prevent it in our community. Cole Lancaster and Emma Binion decided on a topic that could bring the community together by positively impacting the lives of others and breaking barriers surrounding the topic of suicide. The simple idea of providing a safe zone for students feeling alone by installing buddy benches and placing informative posters about suicide prevention, has grown with the support from a number of MHHS staff, community business leaders, and even our own Mayor Sykes.For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.
