Now is the time to vote! District levy vote to be held on March 13

Wednesday, March 7, 2018
Without the passage of this levy, Mountain Home School District will lose almost 12 percent of it's funding, leading to cuts throughout the district.

Since the funding period for the 2016 levy is over, it is once again time to vote on the Mountain Home School District supplemental levy.

As a supplemental levy, this money will fund multiple areas of the district which currently face a lack of funding from the state. This levy, which will provide 11.5 percent of the district's funding, has been in place since 2010 and is voted upon every two years.

If the levy doesn't pass, a new budget will have to be made, resulting in cuts throughout the district; in total, the district will lose $2.7 million. For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.

Shame on MHSD for once again using the children of this wonderful community as a pawn in their inability to function within their fiscal income. Not only did they say that programs for the children might have to be cut if the levy failed but they also sent out many messages to the parents of students. As a taxpayer that has no children in the district, I find this appalling and dirty politics. One board member, RB, had the courage to say that they sent word to EVERYONE. An informal query of friends on and one informal poll showed a majority had no idea of the vote. Different MHSD Board but the same games.
