Elisia “Licha” Moreno Silva, 82 years young, left us on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, to be re-united with our father.

At her request there will be no services. Family gathering will be held next spring to place her ashes next to our father at Mountain View Cemetery.

Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Mom was born Feb. 23, 1935 to Donaciano and Adelida Moreno, in San Benito, Texas. Mom grew up in Texas along with four brothers and four sisters.

Mom didn’t talk much about her childhood, but she did like to reminisce about how she met and later married dad. She would get that little glow on her face as she re-told the story of how he stood in the field and stole her heart.

As they started their life together they emigrated from Texas to Idaho where they followed harvest jobs and always returning to Texas in time for the next harvest. As their family grew their trips became few in between. They made Mountain Home their home and settled.

Mom had always loved the kitchen, cooking was her passion. She started to work for The Prado’s in Boise and soon was head cook prep. She retired in 1992, just in time for grandkids to show up.

Even after retiring she still found ways to get her food out. She catered some weddings with traditional Mexican dishes.

Mom always found time to not only watch the grandkids but make us some handmade blankets or knit. When dad also retired they found going to the river to fish was a good idea and drag the grandkids.

Mom is survived by her sons Horacio Silva, Joel (Sylvia) Silva, Rafael Silva and Luciano (Elia) Silva and her daughter-in law Alicia Silva, many grandkids and great-grandkids.

Mom leaves us behind, but she left so many memories, so many lessons, and unconditional love. She was a tough woman, with a heart of gold. She did things her way, none questioned her (even dad), always with our best interest.

Mom will always be remembered and missed by all those that were blessed to have her in their lives. She found that her food was always a way to your heart-Tamales and empanadas.

We, the family, would like to thank Rost Funeral Home, plus the responding EMT’s and ER faculty that did their best to help our mother.
