Elks Lodge presents money to local civic organizations

The Friends of the Mountain Home Public Library plans to use the $1,000 they received to purchase books to create two new graphic novel sections at the city library.

During a presentation June 14, representatives with the Mountain Home Elks Lodge presented nearly $10,000 to three civic organizations to fund different programs and efforts in the local community.

The Mountain Home High School and American Legion baseball teams were presented with $5,000 with the High Hopes Special Olympics team in Mountain Home given another $3,600 with the lodge handing $1,000 to the Friends of the Mountain Home Public Library.

The lodge raised the money during its eighth annual golf tournament, held recently at the Desert Canyon Golf Course.

The Mountain Home High School and American Legion baseball teams were presented with $5,000 to make a number of improvements to the fields at East Side Park.

The Elks lodge presented $3,600 to the High Hopes Special Olympics team in Mountain Home to cover the team's expenses as it travels to upcoming competitions.
