State unemployment rises

Strong job growth, a continued demand for workers and an increase in people looking for work edged Idaho's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate up slightly in July to 3.8 percent, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.

Idaho regained its status as number one in the nation for over-the-year job growth in July with nearly 23,000 more jobs and a 3.4 percent increase driven by across-the-board gains in all industries.

From June to July, the unemployment rate in Elmore County fell by a tenth of a percent to 4.3 percent with a combined workforce of 10,163 people, the labor department reported. It was a half percent better than July 2015 when 4.8 percent of people in the county were out of work.
