Dixie Lee Cornell

Dixie Lee Cornell died on the morning of Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Ashley Manor in Mountain Home. She was 78 years of age.

Dixie was born to Monty Harold Emery and Reva Paulene Fine Emery on July 19, 1937, in Camas, Wash. She was raised on Long Beach Peninsula in Washington where she attended grade school and junior high school. She graduated from Toutle High School.

Dixie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 15, 1961. She later moved to Idaho where she resided with her husband of 40 years, Joseph Richard (Rich) Cornell. They lived on their ranch in Mayfield for many years before building their dream home at Little Camas.

Dixie warmly welcomed guests into her home making everyone feel welcome. She was generous while at the same time always modest in her spending, and loved shopping at the Idaho Youth Ranch.

Dixie's lively and spirited character brought a smile to many faces and will be fondly remembered.

In her last years, Dixie dedicated herself fully to her volunteer Bible education work in which she spent 50 or more hours each month sharing with others the comforting message from the Bible.

Dixie is survived by her son, Robert Lee Malecki and wife Marites of Mountain Home; stepdaughter Sondra Cornell Grimmett and husband Mike of Mountain Home; sister Nancy Lou Walters of Yuma, Ariz.; sister Mary Anna Imbelloni of Pahrump, Nev.; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rich, stepson Joe Cornell and brother George Steven Emery.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1170 East 9th South St., in Mountain Home. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
