Family thankful after crash

Wednesday, June 1, 2016

Dear editor,

On May 1, 2016, my family was going down the freeway on our way home from Boise to Arco. At Exit 90, we had a rear tire explode and sent our vehicle into a roll into the median. I think we rolled about five times.

I was knocked unconscious. My husband was driving, and my 17-year-old son was a back seat passenger with our small dog. We lost our dog in the crash. He was ejected from the car during the rollover and ran off only to get run over by a passing car.

I want to thank the people who stopped to help until the paramedics got there. I don't know who they were, but I don't think I would have regained consciousness without their help.

I would also like to thank the EMT team for their help and the sheriff for making sure my dog was placed somewhere so I could take him home and bury him. I also want to thank the Life Flight team. I am so grateful for everything those people did to help my family during this tragic incident.

It is only by God's grace and the help of each of these individuals that we are alive. Thanks again to all involved. I am ever so grateful for everyone's bravery and assistance.

Sincerely,

-- Maria Veach, Arco
