Norman David Kibe III, age 53 of Mountain Home, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at his home.

David was born Oct. 21, 1961, in California to Norman D. Kibe Jr. and Patricia Marie. He was the oldest of six kids. Some people knew him as Norman and others as David.

Growing up in Idaho brought joy to David. He went hunting and fishing with his dad at a young age, hunting animals big and small. David was a little guy in the beginning and had to hop a ride on his dad's shoulders to find the animals that had been spooked.

As David grew up, he helped with the family business, roofing with his parents. At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving four years. He went on to serve two years in the Naval Reserves, four years with the National Guard and 16 years in the Army Reserves. David took pride in serving his county with honor.

While serving, David had a lot of training, welding, mechanics and many other specialties. During his reserve time, he drove semi trucks. He was also a certified diesel mechanic, working locally in Mountain Home. Eventually, he moved to North Dakota and did mechanic work there.

In 2011, David married Delihla, gaining two step-daughters and three grandkids that loved him dearly.

In 2013, David was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. He was sent to the VA Hospital in Washington where they did Chemo and radiation treatments. After months of that, he was sent back home to do his treatments in Boise.

David fought harder than anyone we know. His faith in the Lord was strong having served him his whole life. David gave his family a sense of security and calmness in the face of his cancer.

Defeat was a word that was not in his vocabulary. He fought every day to beat his cancer and be strong for his family. Through all of his trials in life, David did everything whole hearted. Not only was he an amazing son, brother, husband, uncle and friend, he was also a great cook (we all fought over his cheesecake). Sharing his knowledge with whomever was willing to learn.

Norman David fought his battle with cancer with a calmness that amazed his family, never giving up until the good Lord called him home on July 10, 2015. May he rest in peace finally and walk hand in hand with our Savior until we meet again. You are truly loved and missed.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents and mother. He is survived by two kids, his father, five siblings, his wife, two stepdaughters, three grandkids and many, many nieces and nephews.

As per David's wishes, he was cremated and wanted no service. However, there will be a potluck at his parents' home to celebrate his life on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. at 478 NE Mashburn Rd. All who knew him are welcome. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
