Be a part of Relay for Life

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Dear editor,

This week recognizes more than 3 million volunteers that are helping the American Cancer Society save lives from cancer every day in every community. Some of those volunteers are right here in our community, and I would like to thank them for the difference they are making in the lives of others.

I would like our community to know who these folks are because they are making a difference for all of us. Thank you to our Relay For Life Relay Teams and the Team Captains that lead them to raise funds used for cancer research, education and programs:

Kari Pearson leads team We're Stronger Together; Debbie Farnsworth leads team St. Luke's Elmore; Amy Pearson leads team MHPD Cares; Sharon Wean leads team Moose on the Loose; Holly McKerchie leads team Brooklyn's Warriors; Lisa Wheeler leads team Papa's Crusaders; Scott Rasmussen leads team Move For Life; Marcella Trueba leads team Our Journey With Jack; Karen Azman leads team Caldwell Transportation; Ashly Smith leads team Girl Scout Tagalongs; Tina Mespelt leads team Jessica's Fighters; Rita Everitt leads team Kelly's Heros; Terrie Enoch-Petty leads team Marathon Cheese Puffs; Brad Buehler leads team MHFD Hot Stuff; Kenda Schroeder leads Mtn. Home Lion's Club; Lynn Hemme leads team Mtn. Home Okingwan Karate; Melanie Grimmius leads team R.O.A.R. MHHS; Zoe Reeves leads team Supporting Friends; Ryland Hobgood leads team Team Walmart; Jennifer Weaver leads team Traveling Walkers and Travis Sheribon leads team Paul's Market.

As a new team, Paul's Market is focusing its volunteer efforts at the checkout counter in the store during Volunteer Recognition Week. For a $1 donation, you can help fill the store with Relay For Life Moons, Stars and Footprints and show your support to end cancer in our lifetime on display.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the American Cancer Society. It's not too late to volunteer to end cancer in our lifetime. Go to cancer.org or elmorerelay.com to find out how to help.
