High winds pushed a semi trailer off the right shoulder along Highway 51, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, according to information from the Elmore County Sheriff's Department.

One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash involving a semi truck and trailer today, April 14, on Highway 51.

Kerrie Beckman of Homedale was transporting hay from a farm in Hammett to a dairy in Marsing when she lost control of the vehicle around 1 p.m.

According to Deputy Garret Kinnan from the Elmore County Sheriff's Department, Beckman had moved to the right shoulder of the highway to allow some vehicles to pass. High winds in the area then pushed the trailer over, causing it to flip on its side near Heaton Lane about a mile south of Airbase Road. The semi then toppled over onto the passenger side.

Beckman was pulled from the semi by several airmen from Mountain Home Air Force Base, who witnessed the crash. She was conscious and alert by the time emergency responders arrived on scene, Kinnan said.

An ambulance transported Beckman to St. Luke's Elmore medical center in Mountain Home, where she was treated and released.
