The Lady Tigers opened their conference volleyball season last Tuesday night at Bishop Kelly, losing to the Lady Knights in three straight games, 6-25, 15-25, and 17-25.

"Tonight we faced a tough, experienced team," said Mountain Home Lady Tigers volleyball coach Jill Peterson. "We struggled with serve receive and execution.

"This weekend we look forward to all of our injured players returning and working out the kinks at the Twin Falls tournament."

Sable Lohmeier had six kills for the Lady Tigers, and Demery Dean had three service aces.

Mountain Home traveled to Twin Falls last Saturday for the Twin Falls Invitational.

They went 2-1-1 in pool play, which consisted of 30-minute games.

They opened pool play with a 21-16, 21-17 win over Filer. They then faced Dietrich and split with them, losing the first game 16-21 but winning the second, before time expired, 14-13. Then they faced Raft River and won, 21-17, 18-16, before losing to Twin Falls 10-21, 12-21.

That put them in the Gold Bracket single elimination tourney. They opened against Kimberly and lost in two close games, 17-25, 19-25.

Coach Peterson remains optimistic for the future.

"This was the first time all players were able to play," the coach said. All injuries are healed, so we're kind of starting fresh, you might say. We were able to run some of our faster offense, but really struggled finishing a play, and we're still working on our consistency."

The Lady Tigers were home against Skyview in conference action Tuesday night, and host Kuna in conference play Thursday night.
