Voting for Bruneau-Grand View levy is the best option available

Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Dear editor:

This letter is to ask for your support of the Bruneau-Grand View School District Supplemental Levy on Aug. 26.

By voting "YES" we are making a smart investment in our schools.

This levy provides funding for all three schools to remain open for the 2014-2015 school year. Elementary schools in these local communities are vital, not only for the children but the residents as well.

Schools are assets for businesses, land owners and home owners. Having a school close to your property increases the value of your property.

This school district is not the only district in the State of Idaho that requires a supplemental levy to operate.

Currently there are 95 out of 115 districts operating on supplemental levies.

Our children in this district deserve the same opportunities as others they will compete with as adults.

Failure of this levy has far-reaching consequences that will effect everyone.

Options of failure are borrowing money from a bank (that will have to be paid off with a levy), the state takes control of the district, or a forced consolidation with another district.

NONE of those choices are good ones for our children.

It's essential that we, the voters, take the time to educate ourselves as to the ramifications if the levy is not passed.

Please join me by voting "YES" for the Supplemental Levy on Aug.26 for the Bruneau-Grand View School District.

It is the right thing to do for our kids, schools and communities.
