Houston family says thanks

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Dear editor:

My wife and I were assigned to Mountain Home Air Force on Jan. 13, 1993.

Upon arrival we were initially disappointed like many others, however, we built a house as an investment property and figured we would sell it and be long gone in approximately three to five years, but that never happened.

My son, Matthew was born at the 366th Medical Group on March 29, 1994, and two years later my wife retired from the Air Force here at Mountain Home Air Force Base. It was about 11 years ago our family decided to make the Mountain Home community our permanent home.

The 21st of March 2014 confirmed the fact that we had made the right decision. You see, I recently lost my bride of 30 years plus, and my family and I were completely overwhelmed by the cards, letters, phone calls and condolences from the entire Mountain Home community.

I love this city and now I can say with strong convictions that I don't know of any other place that I would rather be than Mountain Home, Idaho. It is a comfort to know we can count on each other and are not alone through whatever life brings.

I will never forget the kind words, compassion and love the citizens of the Mountain Home Community gave me and my family. Your kind caring gestures and friendship will last a lifetime. Thank you!
