Lady Tigers strike out in 11-1 loss to Bishop Kelly

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped an 11-1 conference softball game to Bishop Kelly last Tuesday at Bishop Kelly High School in Boise.

Bishop Kelly struck for four runs in the first inning, added six more in the second as they rolled to an 11-0 lead after three innings against the Lady Tigers.

Mountain Home finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning as Maeghan Pomerantz walked, Heather Adams singled and Madi Karst singled in Pomerantz.

"Mistakes kill us," said Lady Tiger head softball coach Ron Nicolosi after the game. "The first five batters were easy outs -- I can't make it any plainer than that -- they were easy outs and should have been out. Like I told the girls, I think it would have been a different game if we'd come in one-two-three. I mean, all of a sudden they don't have momentum and we're playing well and have got confidence, but when we just don't catch fly balls and don't do the basics, it really puts you in a hole, and you've got to try and climb out."

The Lady Tigers had just three hits in the game. Madi Karst had two of them, including an RBI-single. Heather Adams had the other hit.

Adams suffered the loss, despite giving up just three earned runs.

The loss drops Mountain Home to 1-5 in conference and 3-9 overall. They were home against Kuna yesterday (Tuesday), host Middleton tomorrow (Thursday), and travel to Emmett on Friday.

"No team in this conference is going to be easy," said Coach Nicolosi of this week's games. "We've just got to play better softball, and make the basic plays for anybody in our conference."
