Tennis squad breaks into win column against Jerome

The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team got into the win column Saturday, beating Jerome in girls and boys matches in Mountain Home.

Earlier, the Tigers dropped matches to Skyview, Bishop Kelly and Emmett.

Mountain Home traveled to Skyview on March 14 where the girls lost 7-0 and the boys lost 5-2.

Mountain Home's wins came in the boys singles matches, as Brad Foreman won the #1 singles match 6-2, 6-2, and Haydon Draper won the #3 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Daniel Courtright lost the #2 singles match in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 3-6.

The Bishop Kelly Knights beat Mountain Home in a conference tennis match at Richard Aguirre park last Monday in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home's lone win in the girls match came in the #1 girls doubles as Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger won 6-0, 6-3. Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez lost the #2 doubles match 2-6, 0-6.

In girls singles, Stephanie Farnsworth lost the #1 match 1-6, 2-6; Heidi Rawlings lost the #2 match 4-6, 1-6; and Kaitlyn Stephens lost the #3 match 0-6, 0-6.

In boys singles, Brad Foreman lost the #1 match 0-6, 0-6; Timothy Austin dropped the #2 match 2-6, 1-6; and Dustin Emerson lost the #3 match 3-6, 1-6.

In mixed doubles, Daniel Cartright and Brytany Binder lost the #1 match 1-6, 1-6, and Jacob Hansen and Kiana Galloway dropped the #2 match 3-6, 1-6.

The Tigers traveled to Emmett on Thursday for a conference match and lost to the Huskies.

Mountain Home's lone win in the girls match again came in the girls doubles, as Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger won 7-5, 6-1. Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie lost the #2 match 1-6, 2-6.

In girls singles, Stephanie Farnsworth dropped the #1 match 3-6, 1-6; Kali Ireland lost the #2 match 6-1, 6-0; and Karina Guadarrama lost the #3 match 1-6, 3-6.

In boys singles, Brad Foreman lost the #1 match 5-7, 0-6; Timothy Austin dropped the #2 match 1-6, 4-6, and Jared Shaw lost the #3 match 0-6, 1-6.

In boys doubles, Danny Calvert and Joey McCullough lost the #1 match 0-6, 1-6, and Andrew Turner and Josh Saporta dropped the #2 match 4-6, 3-6.

In mixed doubles, Jacob Hanson and Kiana Galloway lost the #1 match 2-6, 1-6, and Dustin Emerson and Monica Spinazzolo dropped the #2 match 1-6, 3-6.

The Mountain Home boys and girls came to play Saturday, as they defeated Jerome handily in Richard Aguirre Park.

Mountain Home won all of the girls matches. Stephanie Farnsworth won the #1 singles match, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2; Kali Ireland won the #2 match, 6-0, 6-0, and Karina Guadarrama won the #3 match, 6-1, 6-1.

In girls doubles, Mary Martin and Katelyn McKenzie won the #1 match 6-0, 6-1, and Emily Gillies and Alejandra Hernandez won the #2 match, 6-0, 5-2.

In boys singles, Brad foreman won the #1 singles match, 6-2, 6-1; Timothy Austin battled back from a 1-6 first set to win the next two 6-1, 6-3, in the #2 match, and Jared Shaw won the #3 match 6-1, 6-0.

In boys doubles, Andy Crawford and Haydon Draper dropped the #1 match 1-6, 2-6, but Andrew Turner and Josh Saporta won the #2 match 7-5, 6-4.

Mountain Home also swept the mixed doubles, as Jacob Hanson and Brytany Minder took the #1 match 6-1, 6-2, while Dustin Emerson and Monica Spinazzolo blanked their #2 opponents 6-0, 6-0.

The Mountain Home High School tennis squads are taking this week off during spring break. They return to action next week, traveling to Caldwell on Tuesday before they host Nampa on April 4 at Richard Aguirre Park.
