Wolf kills calf near city limits

Billy and Courtney Ireland have reported that the USDA has confirmed a wolf killed a calf on their property Saturday evening.

The 100-pound calf was killed adjacent to the Canyon Creek Canal, near where the pavement ends on Canyon Creek Road and only about two miles from the nearest subdivision.

The incident appears to involve a lone wolf that has been spotted by neighbors several times in recent weeks, Ireland said.

She said the USDA inspector said the government would pay 100 percent for the calf killed.
