Magazine celebrates AFAD at 52

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

In celebration of the 52nd anniversary of Air Force Appreciation Day, the Mountain Home News has published a special free souvenir magazine of AFAD.

The magazine is available at the Mountain Home News office, 195 S. 3rd East St., at selected businesses throughout the community, and will be distributed at the Chamber of Commerce raffle booth and other booths in the park on Saturday, as well as the packets given during the year to all new airmen at the base.

"AFAD is one of the most unique events in all of Idaho," said Mountain Home News Publisher Coleen Swenson, "and is one of the many reasons Mountain Home has such a good reputation throughout the Air Force for its support of our military personnel, and we hope people will keep it as a souvenir of this very special day."

The full-color magazine looks at what it takes to put AFAD together and offers an extensive review of the history of the event.
