Caldwell 27

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers returned to the win column Tuesday night with a 47-27 win over Caldwell at Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home led 13-9 after a quarter and pulled away in the second quarter, taking a 30-10 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Lady Tigers put the game out of reach in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 45-14.

Teresa Fredell led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 15 points. Courtney Christiansen, Hailey Belt and Keesha Janis-Gibson each added eight points, and Marissa Streeter, JaDene Palmer, Selena Foster and Emilee Schetzle each scored two points.

Skyview 60

Mtn. Home 46

The Lady Tigers hosted Skyview last Thursday night and battled the Lady Hawks tough despite a cold shooting night from the field, losing 60-46.

Skyview took a 15-10 lead after a quarter and went on a 14-0 run to start the second quarter. It was 34-17, Skyview, at the half.

Trailing 44-27 with 3:34 left in the third quarter, Mountain Home battled back to within eight, 44-36, before Skyview hit the final five points of the period to go up 49-36 after three.

The Lady Tigers were never able to get any closer and lost 60-46.

Despite the loss, Coach Keener was pleased with the way his girls kept battling.

"We hung in there, which was a good thing. I'm pleased about that. Unfortunately, we lost, but we were playing well at times.

"We didn't quit -- that was good -- if we could have had a couple girls shoot better from the field, we're right in that ball game, even closer."

Teresa Fredell, Keesha Janis-Gibson and Emilee Schetzle all scored in double figures. Fredell led the way with 13 and Janis-Gibson and Schetzle both scored 10. For Schetzle, it was a new season high.

Courtney Christiansen added six points, Hailey Belt four and Marissa Streeter three.

The Lady Tigers ended the night shooting 21 percent (13/62) from the field, including 24 percent (5/21) on three-pointers. They hit 75 percent (15/20) from the foul line.

Skyview, which shot over 40 percent in the first half, ended with 36 percent (22/62) shooting from the field and hit only one of eight (13 percent) long balls. They shot 52 percent (15/29) from the free-throw line.

The taller Skyview team (they had three 6' 0" players) only outrebounded Mountain Home 46-43. Keesha Janis-Gibson led Mountain Home with 17 rebounds.

Bishop Kelly 54

Mtn. Home 24

The Lady Tigers came out flat against Bishop Kelly Saturday night and lost to the Lady Knights 54-24 at Bishop Kelly.

The game started well enough, with Teresa Fredell hitting a three to give the Lady Tigers a 3-0 lead with 6:35 left in the first quarter, but it would be a full six minutes before they would score again, on a basket by Emilee Schetzle. In the meantime, Bishop Kelly had gone on an 18-0 run. It was 18-8, Bishop Kelly, after a quarter.

Bishop Kelly steadily increased its lead in the second quarter and led 35-16 at the half.

Mountain Home made just one of ten shots and two free throws in the third quarter and fell behind 49-19 heading into the fourth. With the 30-point mercy rule in play, the clock did not stop in the fourth and the game ended 54-24, Bishop Kelly.

Coach Keener had said going into the game, that the key against Bishop Kelly was to be able to score points.

"It (scoring points) didn't happen," said Coach Keener after the game.

"Not even close. That was just ugly. We were extremely flat. We were so disinterested, like we didn't want to be here. We had just no energy at all. I haven't really seen that out of this group."

Keesha Janis-Gibson led the Mountain Home scoring with seven points. Emilee Schetzle added five, Marissa Streeter four, Teresa Fredell, three, Selena Foster and Tessa Pachner two each, and Alexis Berry one.

Mountain Home shot just 22 percent (8/36) from the field, hitting two of 10 (20 percent) treys and just 40 percent (6/15) from the free-throw line.

Bishop Kelly shot 46 percent (21/46) from the field, hitting three of ten 3-balls and 56 percent (9/16) of its free throws.

They battled Bishop Kelly even on the boards, 24-24. Keesha Janis-Gibson and Selena Foster both had five rebounds to lead Mountain Home.

The Lady Tigers fall to 5-8 in conference and 5-12 overall. They host Kuna Friday night in conference play in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium. Coach Keener hopes they can bounce back.

"Definitely. That's a winnable game, so hopefully we have a good week of practice and turn it around."
