Choir students raise money for quake, tsunami survivors

Hacker Middle School choir students, Sierra Chester, Chloe Chavez, and Ashlee Johnson create cranes out of paper using the Japanese art of Origami, or paper folding.

Choir students from Hacker Middle School helped raise hundreds of dollars to help the survivors of Japan's recent earthquake and tsunami through a custom that originated in the Asian nation.

The effort started in early May as the choir students participated in a cultural connection project while rehearsing a Japanese folksong for a festival competition.
