Workshop helps county improve its disaster plan

When flooding hit Glenns Ferry earlier this year, prompting the evacuation of several homes, the waters receded within a matter of hours.

But what if the situation didn't resolve itself that fast? How would the rural community and county deal with that type of natural disaster, and who would take charge?

Nearly two dozen people representing different organizations from Mountain Home, Glenns Ferry and Elmore County met last month to answer those and many other questions. The workshop, hosted by the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security, also examined how the agencies would work together to deal with an assortment of manmade or natural disasters.
